FREEPORT HARRISON MIDDLE SCHOOL LAUNCHES AIR BOTTLE ROCKETS

After putting together their bottle rockets, the rocketeers launched their bottles at 50 psi. Sam's bottle got to 63' followed by Willet's at 51'. Then they launched the paper stomp rockets which surprised them because they all went much higher than the air bottle rockets.

BRUNSWICK MIDDLE SCHOOL LAUNCHES BOTTLE ROCKETS

After making simple 2L bottle rockets and adding water as a propellent, the rocketeers launched their rockets at 50 psi. The highest flight was 93' by Everett followed by Andrew at 84'.

YARMOUTH ROCKET CLUB TESTS SUPER PAPER ROCKETS

In order to make their own superior supper paper rockets, the club tested out four variation of the rocket: one had small fins and no weight, one had medium weight (three pennies) and small fins, one had no extra weight and large fins, and another had a heaver weight (ten pennies) and small fins. It was decided to not bother with a no fin rocket.
The club will meet next week to examine the data and design their own rockets.

PAPER ROCKET WITH PARACHUTE

NASA has a great lesson plan on building a high power paper rocket with a parachute at: http://www.nasa.gov/pdf/295786main_Rockets_Adv_High_Power_Paper.pdf

It is a stomp rocket that is simple to build. The nice thing about it is that you can make variations to see how that will change the flight. Good worksheets are included.

RIVERTON BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF PORTLAND, MAINE LAUNCHES THEIR PAPER ROCKETS

On July 12th the Riverton Club made paper rockets for the stomp rocket launcher.
Everyone had a good time and learned about projectiles and rockets.
Their rockets worked very well. We estimated that one rocket flew over 90 feet which is very good given the young age and light weight of the children.

BRUNSWICK ROCKETEERS

Making Bottle Rockets
After making bottle rocket, we shoot off paper stomp rockets, air bottle rockets, water battle rockets, and a small Estes rocket (which we actually recovered).
John had a chance to try out his new commercial height finder gun and a fun time was had by all.

A GOOD SITE FOR BEGINNG MODEL ROCKETEERS

This is a terrific source for beginners to advanced rocketeers:  http://www.flythingz.com/rocketry/  The site contains numerous links to other more specialized sites. The instructions are clear.
